Sugarloaf is a ski resort in Maine. It offers 2,820 feet of vertical drop, 1,360 skiable acres, 176 marked runs, served by 15 lifts, with an average of about 200" of snow a year. Development began in 1950 after the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club secured land; the first rope tow began operating in 1953. Boyne Resorts took over operations in 2007. Sugarloaf calls itself Maine's largest ski resort and highlights the only lift-assisted above-tree-line skiing in the East.
