Telluride Ski Resort opened in 1972 with five lifts and a day lodge. Mountain Village was developed beginning in 1985 as the resort evolved into a destination area. The resort reports both a 4,425-foot maximum vertical drop and a 3,790-foot lift-served vertical drop. Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a public gondola system.
