Alvin Cobabe turned family range land into Powder Mountain, opening on February 19, 1972 with the Sundown lift. Later terrain and lift expansions created the resort's large current footprint. Current pages list 5,000 acres, 163 named runs and five public lifts. A separate 2026/27 project is expected to add 1,000+ lift-accessed expert acres and 2,200 feet of vertical in the DMI zone.
